Sometimes it depends on the depth as to which way they go. I personally haven't been in one "up and down", but the side to side brings buildings down. I am glad you are ok and thanks for the comment.

We felt it in Sugar Grove, Pa. It Didn't last long, only a few seconds. It felt as though it shook up and down rather than side to side. Why is that?

We felt it up here and hear you had alerts from Ohio and beyond. We have been nervous about a possible big one, but a 5.5 may relieve some pressure. We would prefer a few small ones, as opposed to Haiti. Bobby Vassallo did a good prediction on the Mexicali, MX area and Brawley, CA. We followed that with interest.

I hope this is all we get up here for a while. Too much excitement. Keep up the good work.

Sandra, there have been thousands of aftershocks, as there always are. But, only a few have been huge. Go to http://opusa.org (our favorite OPERATION USA). These guys have been there since the beginning and will be there long after the World forgets. And, the money and services get there like no other charity we've watched.

Thank you for your post.

I have been wanting to donate to the Chile earthquake relief efforts since the initial news of the quake was reported by the news media and have been tracking the continuing quakes in Chile on the Internet.
However, I have heard no information on the continuing quakes in Chile or how to donate from the news.

I believe that with the uprising in earthquake activity in the past few monthes, the earth's tectonic plates are coliding along their lengths and we still have much more devistation on the way.

Look at the geographical map of the recent quakes in magnitude and location. You will notice that all of this points to one large quake yet to come.

The San Andres fault along the west coast, has been severly weakened by their last few quakes, and the quakes around the fault, such as the quakes in haiti and chile. One would predict that the next quake would be along the san andres fault, and around the magnitude of 9.0.

The majority of the wild life in the west coast has begun to flee east as of 2 days ago. I still have yet to see a bird in the sky today after i noticed the large flock retreating east. I live in California and I am taking precautions as we speak.

Gerald is right so far. The Tsunamis have not been severe, as thought would occur. But the earthquake in Chile is beyond imagination. 80 times stronger than the Haiti Killer? Early reports of death are premature as they can be. The toll will be huge, I am afraid. CG

The devastation they can't even begin to know this soon. Too early. I pray Chile will receive quick help and that the Tsunamis amount to nothing. Gerald
